Can't a Brother get a Break?

Painted the frame "Dark Machine Gray" 'cause I liked the name, fully aware that a black frame would have been the safe bet, 'cause black is beautiful. Mudflap and Sputnik have no complaints, but I think it looks like shit with a black tank. However, with the motor mounted and lock-tighted it ain't coming back out of the frame 'til at least next winter. I'll try painting the tins the same color, and hope for the best. Coming so close to completion and riding season is coming soon........I think.

  2. Lookin good Hermit, a couple years back I painted the frame on my Shovel grey and thought the same with a black tank. So I had the nephew painter put some grey striping
(scallops) around the sides and it blended much better. I think a grey frame looks good with so many black ones out there.
Really looking forward to a long ride,if this winter will ever release it's frigid grip.

    1. I'm with you on the grey frame, BC and am OK with it now. I spent last night with a twelve pack and some rattle cans, and painted the tank grey. Looks a lot better, but I like the idea of some pin striping to break things up a little, (orange maybe?).
Got a headache this morning, that Rustoleum can give a guy a hangover.

And oh yeah, it's snowing outside this morning.

  4. just to throw my tuppence in the hat hermit, i like the grey, i like the grey a lot, what about a navy ship numbers font, google navy ship numbers font and check out the modern us navy lo-vis shaded hull numbers to see what i mean, like a race number, but a tad more subtle? grey-on-grey with a black outline? sorry, not explaining this very well, or, what about the traditional asymmetrical british racing stripes, [two stripes, one, one inch wide and one three quarter's of an inch wide, one quarter of an inch apart, again, a different shade of grey to compromise with your tin's and frame, or perhaps an 'olde english white or cream? it's either that or an airbrushed mural of a viking warrior with a huge sword cleaving a dragon, with a busty maiden swooning at his feet, just trying to bring a little taste to the table and improve anglo-american relationship's y'all.........

    1. The color has a definite "Battleship" feel to it loveless. I'm definitely diggin' the racing stripes thing.

I was reading your comment with interest and almost spit out a mouthful of tea on my monitor when I got to the part about the Viking warrior. Funny shit!

I used to ride with a guy, let's call him a friend of a friend, who is a lawyer. He'd proudly show off the image of "Lady Liberty" (or whatever the hell it is, you know, the bitch with the blindfold and scales of justice and shit) he'd had airbrushed on the tank of his big dresser. It was fucking embarrassing and worse still, ironic, because money-grubbing lawyers, in my humble opinion, usually represent the antithesis of justice.
